Boulogne
Fifth Form Day Trip to Boulogne-sur-Mer

I was one of sixty lucky boys to go on the school trip to Boulogne on Friday 26 September. It was hard getting up at 5am that morning but it was certainly worth it !

The coach trip and ferry across the channel were great fun, with excited boys chattering about the adventures to come.

First stop was the Musee de Guerre, the war museum, where we saw tanks and military equipment from World War Two. The building was an old camouflaged German bunker used as a telephone exchange during the war. It was fascinating to see the old war documents from the time when France was occupied and Britain was fighting the Battle of Britain. I especially liked the machine guns and bazookas.

After a good lunch of “poulet et frites”, chicken and chips, we went to the Nausicaa aquarium which is the home to 10,000 sea creatures, such as sharks, sea lions and many types of fish. We learned about the seas and oceans which was very educational and entertaining.

My favourite creatures were amazing orange frogs in the Madagascar Section. They were only one centimetre long but really beautiful and as bright as an orange firework.

No trip to Boulogne would be complete without a visit to the huge hypermarket Auchan. There we all had a chance to buy sweets and souvenirs of our wonderful day in France.

We are all very grateful to Mr Mowbray, Mrs White, Mrs Goodman, Mr Soltysik and Mr Tes and our two friendly coach drivers.

Merci beaucoup a tout le monde. A bientôt Boulogne !
