Early Arrivals
Please note that supervision is only available from the school at 8.05 am and you should therefore refrain from leaving your son at school unaccompanied before this time.  However, a Breakfast Club is available from 7.45 am.

Late Departures
If you know that you are going to be delayed please notify us in order to save any undue distress to your child.  Your child will then be taken to the seniors’ late room where you will be able to collect him.

Absence
If your son is absent from school due to ill health please inform the School Secretary by telephone after 8.45 a.m. and send a note of explanation to your son’s tutor on his return.  Permission must be sought from the Headmaster for any other leave of absence.

Illness
Please do not send your son into school if you have a reason to suspect that he is ill.  This includes children who are on extended courses of antibiotics.

If your child suffers vomiting or diarrhoea, he cannot attend school until 24 hours have passed since the last occurrence of the symptoms or 48 hours in the event of multiple occurrences of vomiting or diarrhoea.  Conjunctivitis or other communicable diseases should also be treated appropriately at home to minimise the risk of infection to others.

If a child requires powerful medication this should always be clearly labelled before being handed, together with a note detailing the dosage required, to the school secretary for safekeeping and administration.

If your child is asthmatic he should keep one inhaler with him in his pocket during the day and a second must be lodged, correctly labelled, with the school secretary for emergency use.

Medical Cover
The school has its own sick room in which children who have small accidents or who become ill at school can be cared for until collection by their parents. It is vital that the school secretary is given full details of any important or long-term medical problems and parental contact numbers must be supplied.  If you are aware that you will frequently not be available to collect your child, an alternative contact must be supplied to The School Office.

Breaktime Snacks
Boys are allowed to bring break into school, but this should be something small and sensible – such as a biscuit or a piece of fruit.  Sweets and chocolate are not allowed

Lunches
The assumption of responsibility extends even to the dining hall.  Boys have a choice of three meals every day.  Vegetarians or children requiring a special diet can be readily provided for, but a letter giving notice would be helpful.  Boys can choose to bring in packed lunches if they inform the school office at the start of each term.

Milk
Boys are encouraged to drink milk at morning break.  If you would like your son to have this, forms are available from the school secretary.

Bulletins and Circulars
The school publishes a weekly bulletin and newsletter, which can be accessed on our website www.homefield.sutton.sch.uk.  Should you not have internet access, please inform the office who will give your son a hard copy.

Please ensure that you read the documents each week in order to keep up with the school’s events.  Additional letters to notify you of other details pertaining to the Senior Department are sent, as necessary, during the year.
