Early Years Unit > Early Years Unit
The Early Years’ Unit is housed in a light and spacious, purpose-built building. It has its own, secure garden and outside playground. The EYU children also regularly use the school Sports’ Hall, Learning Resources Centre, Music Room and Main Hall for sessions. Access at the start and end of the school day is via the Early Years’ Unit’s separate, secure entrance door at the left of the school building and the side gate giving access via the playground.
There are three age groups in the Early Years’ Unit:
Kindergarten 2˝ – 3 year olds
Nursery 3 – 4 year olds
Transition 4 – 5 year olds
Kindergarten and Nursery children may choose a minimum of five daily consecutive sessions and have the option of adding sessions. The sessions are as follows:-
Mornings only – start at 8.25 am finish at 11.50 am Full time – start at 8.25 am finish at 3.15 pm
Each child is allocated a key person to look after his needs. The key person will help your son become familiar with our provision and feel confident and safe within it.
Any increase in attendance may be arranged during the school year, subject to spaces being available, by giving a half term’s written notice to Mrs B Whiteway, Head of Early Years’ Unit. Children in the Transition year all attend full-time from the start of the year in September.
The arrangements for your Kindergarten or Nursery child’s attendance should be discussed individually with the Early Years’ teachers.
